Protecting new seeds from rain
I am going to plant vegetables and flowers and I am worried that all the rain lately will wash the seeds away.

Don't worry. Cover the soil with a sheet or section of cardboard right after you plant and remove this cover after the rain storms. A regular rainfall is actually good for newly planted seeds and you only need to offer protection if a torrent of rain is expected. A mulch of straw or hay would also help to protect the newly planted seeds from floating away. Let's hope you don't see any animals marching 2 by 2 past your garden. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
