Composting flowers

Can I cut up my flowers such as cosmos, sunflowers, zinnias and just add them to the soil in my flower beds to be use as compost.

Yes! Anything that was once alive will decompose and dead flowers make great material for composting and improving the soil. You can even dig a shallow hole and bury your blooms without cutting them up. This is called spot composting and the soil in this area will then be enriched by the faded flowers. You may even find some flower seedlings next spring. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
