Crabgrass
My lawn is infested with crabgrass or quackgrass, I’m not sure which. It grows in clumps and has root nodes and stems that are tough as nails and is really hard to pull out without leaving gaping holes in the lawn. A couple of years ago I tried a spray that was supposed to kill crabgrass and it killed grass. Is there a product I can use or do I need to just dig? Thanks.

So sorry, those invasive grasses are very hard if not impossible to eradicate just by spraying a product as they are all member of the grass family. Digging them out roots and all then reseeding the bare spots may be the most practical solution. Mowing more often but raising the level of your mower to create more shade may also help as well as keeping your lawn grasses healthy to crowd out the invaders by regularly feeding your lawn.
