Marianne's Response

Creeping Rainbow Rose

I have 2 beautiful rose bushes. They are creepers, so I planted them on opposite corners of a very sunny rockery. My question is do I cut down the very thick branches that are growing straight upward. My gut tells me to cut them before they get so tall and that they may be taking all or too much of the plants energy. Too cut or not to cut, that is the question.

Yes, if the offending branches do not look like the rest of the rose bush they could be suckers and as you want the roses to creep on the ground just remove the branches that reach for the sky. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
