Marianne's Response

Damaged daylilles

My dog got in my daylillies and broke them down. It is just May, so what do I do? They are all laying on the ground. It looks awful in front of my house! Help!

Marianne's Response

No worries daylilies are one tough perennial. I would wait a few days to see if any of the leaves and stems are undamaged and then cut off all the limp and destroyed foliage. I would not be surprised if you find that your daylilies sprout forth with more fresh leaves and even blooms next months. Dogs are no match for this doggone delightful  plant. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
