Looks like the feathery blooms of the Tamarix trees and these are great trees for desert regions as they are drought resistant with deep tap roots. In areas with lots of rain they can be a bit of a nuisance as they spread so quickly. They can take heavy pruning each spring to keep them compact. Pruning right after blooming is the general rule and you can thin out wild branches or shorten long branches by one half to encourage branching. You can even keep this tree shrubby by cutting it back to a stump each spring. The tap root makes it difficult to sell in a pot at nurseries so they are often sold as cuttings that you can take from the plant in June or July. A cutting that is one inch thick can be poked into the ground and if kept moist it will root and begin a new tree. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
