How to choose a potting soil

Hello, Does the Osmocote Potting Soil contain water management polymers?

Marianne's Response

Some potting soils contain \"wetting agents\" that aid in the retention of moisture. I am unaware of a polymer technology for that purpose. Osmocote Potting Soil does not claim \"moisture control\". However, Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix does. M-G does not disclose the structure/composition of it's \"wetting agent\" although it claims a 33% improvement in water absorption. Osmocote Potting soil, on the other hand, is specially blended to provide container plants with the rich soil conditions they need. Best of all, it's fortified with genuine Osmocote plant food. Osmocote plant food is the granddaddy of control release nutrition for plants so the dilemma for you may be in choosing between improved moisture control, versus using a potting soil with premium plant food. I'm sure you'll do well with either choice! Keep growing, Marianne Binetti.
