Marianne's Response

Debbien’s Question

I have a lovely full-sun low-growing purple-blooming deciduous (dies clear back to the ground) perennial whose name I have forgotten. The leaves are dentate and grow in pairs in opposite directions of the row above and below. There is a picture attached but with no blooms. [Sorry 🙁 ] Each of the stems bears one light purple cup-shaped flower (just finished blooming) somewhat like campanula; however, what is interesting about the flower is that the petals, unlike Campanula, actually stay “fused together” forming an interesting bloom. I have scoured the Internet and my gardening books and have been unable to figure it out. Please help!

Marianne's Response

I wish I could identify your interesting plant but from the photo I do not recognize it. The flower sounds especially interesting. Perhaps when it is in bloom you could send a photo of the flower. Meanwhile, I will ask around in a quest to give a name to your mystery plant. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
