Marianne's Response

Debbien’s Question

My husband swears that the city water, with chlorine and fluoride, does not green up the lawn like rainwater does. We watered the lawn occasionally this past summer with an oscillating sprinkler (which was also watering the flower bed) and he swears the lawn didn’t green up with the city water, like it does after a good rain. Any truth to that? Thanks, Debbie

Marianne's Response

A bit of truth to the old husband's tail - rainwater does contain some nitrogen especially after a thunder storm, but not enough to be visible to the eye. Lawns do need fertilizer at least once a year and fall is a good time to feed them. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
