DebiSue’s Question
I planted my tomato’s in 17 gal. outdoor containers last week. I live in Florida, so to help with heat/water, I added a water drip system and screening to help with heat; additionally I purchased heat resistant tomato varieties and also I bought a simple moisture gauge. With all of this said, I’m trying hard this year to produce nice backyard tomatoes. Will you help me develop a schedule to water, fertilize, spray for preventive pest/disease and how much of each per tomato and/or container. I looking for general advice, not necessarily specific advise; just your expert help. I welcome any hints/tools for growing tomato’s in Florida too. Debi

So sorry Debi I am not experienced with growing tomatoes in your specific climate as I garden in the cool summer area of Washington state. The best source of local advice would be your local Extension Agent. I am impressed with your drip system, screening and search for knowledge so I expect you will have great tomatoes this summer. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
