Best organic herbicide that will not damage soil
I want to kill everything growing in an 8×10 spot, where I will then lay weed cloth, put pallets over it, and place containers of growing vegetables. I don’t want to use vinegar and salt because I may want to grow an in-ground garden in that spot next year. Is there something safe that will eventually dissipate and leave the ground under the weedcloth unharmed?

Round Up is a herbicide used by many organic gardeners as it does not last in the soil and is made from glysophate soap. I would not recommend vinegar or salt to kill weeds as these will damage the soil. You may also want to consider cardboard or newspaper instead of weed cloth. Makes for much easier digging if you decide to plant into the space later.
