I recommend Osmocote outdoor plant food applied in the late spring to provide hydrangeas with all the nutrients and micro nutrients they need. Hydrangeas also need moist soil and some shade from the hot afternoon sun. Pruning hydrangeas can be tricky as some varieties flower on two year old wood so pruning every year would cut off the flower buds. There are many varieties of hydrangeas including some with great fall color called \"oak leaf hydrangeas\" but if you send me a photo of your hydrangea I can give you more specific care.
