Marianne's Response

Designing my flower garden

I just purchased the following plants and need to know how to plant them together because I don’t know how they will grow
Phlox 30-32”, sunflower 24 inches, Marie Ballard aster 28-40”, black beauty peony 36/48”, peaches and dreams double hollyhock 60-80”, and Switzerland begonia8-10”. Which plants can be planted together? I will plant at least two in a different location.

Marianne's Response

The peony and the begonias prefer afternoon shade and the phlox, the sunflowers and the hollyhocks love lots of sunshine. The hollyhocks and the sunflowers will also need staking or grow them up against a fence or wall so the wind will not knock them over. Sound like the start to a beautiful flower garden.
