Why Is My American Beauty Rose Plant Not Blooming?

Last year I planted a American beauty pink rose plant. It has taken off like crazy. I have even shaped it to a heart shape in our garden. It stands about 6 and 1/2 feet tall. It has not bloomed yet at all. What can I do. Please help

Thank you,
Diana

Oh dear, from the photo you sent it looks like your American Beauty rose may have been taken over by an aggressive sucker from the root stalk. This means any flowers that do show up will be small, weak and muddy in color as they are blooming from a root stalk that took over the grafted rose. I could be wrong so wait until mid summer and there are still no blooms or if the flowers are small and weak just rip out that plant and try again. Your original rose has been compromised by a hostile take over - and now you need to get back in control things. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
