Marianne's Response
Sad hosta
We live in Wisconsin. I have three hostas planted in the front of my house on the southeast corner. Two of the three look great, however the one on the corner of the house might be getting too much sun. I have transplanted and replaced it but it never comes up as well as the other two. Do you have any suggestions? Should I find something else to plant there? What kind of plant would look good there? Is there a perennial that flowers multiple times that likes partly to mostly sunny, what would you suggest?

Move your sad hosta to a shadier spot and if it still does not respond to life on the dark side, add it to your compost. Life is too short to put up with difficult or ungrateful plants. For a replacement perennial I suggest either a spring blooming hellebore or a sedum 'Autumn Joy' for fall color. Sedums can handle the sun but most do quite well with just half a day of sunshine and the late bloom time will stretch out the time that this garden area is looking great.
