Marianne's Response

Can I plant vinca after I remove pansies from my garden bed?

I am ready to replace my 10×20 garden bed from pansies to annual vinca. I just heard that vinca doesn’t do well in a bed that pansies were planted?
I have been gardening for 40 years and I haven’t heard this. Although I did experience stem rot (black stems in the middle of good foliage) last year after replacing pansies with vinca.

Thank you, Donna Robinson

I have never heard that vinca does not do well where pansies have grown. Perhaps you can add organic matter and improve the soil after you take out the pansies and before you add the vinca. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
