Earthworms and Florida Gardening

We now live in Ocala, Florida. The Land of sand. For the past 3 years I have “created” a compost bin to help improve our sandy soil. I have added 6 yards of good soil to our beds. What else do you recommend for us? We rake our grass cutting and use them in our beds as mulch.

First congrats on making your own soil - sounds like you are doing the right thing adding grass clippings and my suggestion is to consider adding some "done" compost or composted manure to your pile to activate it even more with some living biota that will help to inoculate the pile. Just one shovel of compost or manure will add millions of busy bacteria. Keep the pile moist and shaded as well to help the good bacteria thrive. Love the photo of your backyard paradise.
