Rose plants need sunshine, plenty of water and rich soil. Is your plant in a pot? Keep the soil moist and the plant in a sunny spot. Remove the faded blooms by snipping them off at the stem. You can take off as much as 8 inches of stem on faded rose branches as this will encourage new growth. Osmocote is a good slow release plant food for all flowering plants and I use 2 tablespoons around each rose plant in June in my garden. There are many different types of roses and some can be pruned in the spring by shortening all the stems to about one foot tall.
