Elephant Ears
Hello Marianne:
I’m in the process of purchasing 1 elephant ear plant in 4” pot looks to be about 24” of hanging and it will be indoors. I have a lot of light in my apartment via the sunshine when I open my blinds in the morning so much sunshine. Then in the evening of course I’m getting almost direct sun! My question is what zone am I in? My zip is 23059 in Glen Allen, Virginia Thank you so much Samantha

You are in USDA growing zone 7a if you live in Glen Allen Virginia. Your houseplant will most likely be getting too much sun if it is in front of a window in the summer but perhaps not if it is in front of the window in the winter months. The direction that the window faces also determines how much sun will be hitting the plant. Direct sun from a south or west facing window (I suspect that is your case) can damage the leaves of houseplants that mostly prefer indirect sunlight. I suggest you move your foliage plant away from the window and use a sun loving cacti or succulent plant in the location instead. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
