You can hand-pick snails at night with a flashlight and drop them into a jar of salt water or use a pet and wild life safe slug bait such as \"Worry Free\", Sluggo or Escargo. These brands use iron phosphate as the active ingredient. It makes slugs and snails feel full and die of starvation as they never eat again. Before they die they crawl home under a rock or debris so you never see the dead snails. Iron phosphate will not harm frogs, lizards or other wildlife. Some gardeners also have luck by setting out saucers of beer to lure snails and slugs to their death by drowning or by setting out wads of damp newspaper so the snails will hide in the paper during the day and can be collected and removed with the newspaper.
