Marianne's Response
Ferns
I have a space in between patio pavers of about 14 x 8 inches. I bought two fern plants, each in a six inch wide pot. My question is… is it ok to plant the two fern plants in that space, right next to each other?
Thanks so much,
Karen

That depends. Ferns like cool, shaded soil kept moist and lots of organic matter such as compost or leaf mold mixed into the soil. If you offer them those conditions than growing side by side will be fine - and actually look like a lush fern garden. If the ferns must compete for water they will not do as well. I suggest you plant both and see what happens. You can always dig up one later if you change your mind. Don't be afraid to move plants. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
