Fig tree shoots
Should I prune the vertical shoots that rise from the main branches and bottom of the trunk? Most of them point straight up and don’t produce. I wonder if they aren’t just sapping from the energy that could be producing figs. Thanks, Marianne

Yes, those upward growing shoots are most likely suckers. Winter is a good time to prune as the plant is dormant but you can also wait and prune in early spring. Wishing a bountiful season of figs this summer. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
