Forsythia not blooming

Purchased and planted a fairly new forsythia this year. Planted in mostly sun but have bark around it. I have had Forsythias before, one which grew for 30 years and never have I had a problem with blooming.
Is it a year type thing as it must be a certain age before it blooms? I am at a loss with this plant?
Thanks, Mary Ann Coty

Yes, forsythia, wisteria, clematis and many other plants need to be mature enough to flower and this can take years. Forsythia also need at least half a day of sun. The wait is worth it however when the dark days of February and March are lit up from the golden forsythia blooms. You can also cut branches as early as January and bring them indoors to flower.
