Do bark mulch and cardboard cause termites?
Would cardboard placed on the soil then covered with four inches of bark mulch cause termites and/or exclude air, water, and nutrients from the soil?

No, cardboard will decompose and before it does is will exclude light and help to smother most weeds. A bark mulch will not cause termites unless there are termites already living in the mulch. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
