Add lots of compost and your soil will be ready to grow! You can buy bags of weed-free compost from garden centers. Be sure to have enough to cover all your soil to a depth of 4 inches. Next work this into the sandy soil by turning it with a shovel. You will still need to fertilize your plants. Even soil high in compost and organic matter can be lacking some essential nutrients.
