Blooming rhubarb
I have a two-year-old rhubarb plant. Should I cut the stems that have a bloom on them?

Marianne's Response
Yes, when a rhubarb sends up a flower it is diverting energy from the production of foliage and stems. Remove the blooming stem and add manure on top of your rhubarb plants in the spring or fall to remind them to make leaves not flowers. Manure is high in nitrogen and this encourages foliage growth.
