Are you asking how to plant the top of a pineapple plant to enjoy as a houseplant? If so, just slice off the top leaving an inch or two of the scaly bulb under the spiky green leaves. Next set this on top of sandy soil in a clay pot if possible. The soil needs to be warm and moist for the pineapple top to form roots and a clay pot absorbs heat and moisture best. Keep the potted pineapple top in a sunny windowsill or warm patio and cover with a plastic bag or glass jar but vent when moisture forms on walls of the covering. Use potting soil not garden soil but add sand or perlite to regular potting soil so that it drains well. In a few weeks roots will form and you can move the pineapple to a larger pot once you see new top growth. Pineapples are tropical plants and do not grow in the USA except for Hawaii and parts of Florida as fruit plants. They can be enjoyed as houseplants indoors. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
