Marianne's Response

Why is my Pandora plant (Bower plant) not blooming?

We planted Pandora plants (Bower plants) last July. They had flowers all last Summer and Fall, this year no flowers. One plant will get a head with a dozen blossoms. A couple will blossom and die after a few days. The rest of the blossoms wither and die. The plants are trellised and look very healthy. I sprayed with Miracle-gro, but no results. Any suggestions?

Marianne's Response

You have me baffled - I assume the plants are getting water and that there is no sign of root damage from moles. I suggest you wait this mystery out and see how the plants do next year. Sometimes it takes a few years for plants to settle into a new spot and grow enough roots for happy floral production. This may be the summer the vines are working on their new underground support system. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
