Marianne's Response

Dead crabapple tree

Last year, I planted a small crabapple tree. This year it looks very dry and the pods on the branches look dry. I took a piece to a nursery and they said to wait until August for any kind of bloom to show. I personally think the tree is dead. What should I do?

Marianne's Response

Does the tree have any leaves? If there are no leaves or new growth on the plant by July, I declare it dead and gone. My sympathies. If you see foliage but no flowers, wait until August and perhaps it will redeem itself. Best of luck, Marianne Binetti
