Using Osmocote in bigger pots

Hi,
I bought the 4.5 lb. container of Osmocote Smart Release Plant Food for flowers and vegetables. The instructions only mention application for 4 sq. ft. I want to use this on my tomato plants which are in approximately 10-12 inch pots. They are out in the yard in the open. I also want to use it on my lemon and lime trees which are in approx. 8-10 in pots on my front porch. They are semi-covered by the porch roof overhang. We bring them in for the winter. These are all in plastic pots. Can you break down the usage for me for these size pots?

I have herbs in terra cotta clay pots – 4″, 6″. Can I use this same Osmocote for them, and how much?

Please help! Thanks much.

The general rule of green thumb is three tablespoons of Osmocote (one capful) per 2 gallon pot or 4 square feet. I would use one tablespoon for your 8 to 10 inch pots and one fourth tablespoon on each herb in a 4 to 6 inch pot. Mix the product into the top 1 to 3 inches of soil, then add water. You are going to love the results. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
