Marianne's Response
Why do iris blooms change color?
I have had bearded irises for about 12 years and were always very beautifully colored but this year about 90% have lost their color and although still beautiful they are mostly white. What happened?

The color of flower petals are affected by temperature and soil chemistry. I suspect the unusual spring weather influenced the bloom color on your iris. Just wait until next spring and see what surprise nature decides to paint for you. Dogwood trees, flowering shrubs and other perennials also bloomed in unusual shades for many gardeners this year. Enjoy the surprise, Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
