Do indoor orchids need fertilizer? If so, please provide feeding instructions. Thank you!

Marianne's Response

Indoor orchids enjoy a slow release plant food so apply Osmocote by first checking the dosage on the package instructions. This will tell you how much product to use depending on the size of the container that holds your plant. Orchids are not heavy feeders so I like to use just one half of the amount recommended for container plants. For an average sized orchid plant this would be 1/4 of a teaspoon mixed into the top of the bark or moss that is hiding the orchid roots. One application of Osmocote is enough to keep your orchid happy for up to nine months. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
