Your hibiscus can stay out of the sun all Autumn if it has been doing well in the shade so far. There are many types of hibiscus and some are very frost tolerant and can handle winters even in your high altitude climate. Other varieties are more suited to the tropics and need protection from the frost. I would suggest you protect if from frost and bring it indoors before first hard frost.
