I am not sure why you need to remove the dirt from your plant, but if there is a soil problem you can rinse the dirt that clings to a plant's roots in running water and then transplant or repot immediately into fresh soil. The roots dry out quickly if they do not have soil surrounding the fine root hairs. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
