Marianne's Response
Hollywood Juniper help
I planted this Hollywood Juniper about 1.5 years ago. Over the winter, it has dramatically thinned out in the middle. How can I help my tree get back to its healthy, beautiful self?

Marianne's Response
I do not see a lot of die back or brown wood and do not know what it looked like before. Did a deer take a few nibbles to thin it out? The reality is that this juniper grows in an unusual shape with random fullness and thinning so it will never be a thick column of green. I suggest you just let it grow over the summer and see how the side branches develop. You can snip off side growth in mid July it you want the shrub to stay more compact. Water during drought and it should add more growth this summer. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
