How to take care of potted hyacinths after blooming

my potted hyacinths have bloomed. I cut off the dead blooms and part of the stem. Now what? Do I just put them (pot and all) outside under the eaves until spring? Do I need to repot them into larger pot? Do I water? l’m hoping to have them bloom again, if not this year then next year. And outside, not in the house.

Thank you,

Vickie

The sad news is that forcing bulbs to bloom early wears them out and they rarely flower again. The compost pile is the most practical place for forced bulbs done blooming but hope springs eternal in a garden and sometimes plants break the rules. Go ahead and dig a hole and drop in the spent hyacinth bulbs with the leaves attached. Maybe you will get lucky.  Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
