It is normal for leafy crops like cabbage to \"bolt\" or send up flower stalks during the heat as summer advances. Cut these off if you like to help keep the cabbage in a vegetative form. A shade cloth and mulch on the soil will also help to keep leaf crops from bolting but by mid summer it is almost impossible to stop some crops from going to seed. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
