Marianne's Response
Is my tree healthy

New home with new tree. I would like to know if this tree is ok or if it needs help.

I think the tree is going to be okay but it looks like it needs some pruning to shape it up and the brown leaves at the end of the branches could be due to lack of water or extreme heat earlier this summer. I suggest you wait until winter to shorten some of the branches and this coming spring you may be surprised with healthy new growth. The tree may also be getting too much high nitrogen lawn food as I notice it is growing in a very green lawn and the top growth seems ungainly. If you have space in another area that is not surrounded by lawn you might consider moving the tree as it is going to grow quite large and is right next to a sidewalk. Early spring or fall is a good time to transplant trees and the lawn will be easier to mow without a tree in the middle. Of course you may have neighborhood HOA rules that insist you keep this as a street tree. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
