Itoh Peonies
a few years ago we purchased tree peonies from a local garden center – we noticed that in the pot of each tree peony there were very pretty regular peonies, but with less petals and stronger stems – I was trying to find out why this was the case when I found an article on Itoh peonies – could this be what we have?

Yes - it looks like the blooms of the peony in your photo are from the new Itoh peony which are a cross between a herbaceous peony and a tree peony. There are now many varieties being sold at big box stores and even WalMart but I do not recognize the brilliant pink one you have. Enjoy, Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
