Marianne's Response
Japanese Maple Troubles
These Japanese maples are in containers under a covered patio and have been doing fine until this year! Can you tell me why they are not happy now?

Marianne's Response
So sorry but from the image you sent I cannot see why you think they are not happy. If you are concerned about the color of the new growth in shades of pink and red that is normal. Young plants may have more colorful new growth as they mature or are exposed to more sun. I can detect a bit of orange bark so I suspect your have seedlings of a coral bark maple and some will have more leaves that are green but other seedlings may mature to be trees with more orange or red leaves. Plants like to surprise us and that is part of the fun of gardening. Please let me know if there are some dead sections or other problems that I cannot see in the image. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
