How can I successfully grow pieris shrubs?

Pieris japonica is also known as the lily of the valley bush because of the clusters of white fragrant spring blooms. This evergreen shrub loves acid soil, shade from the hot afternoon sun, and water during the driest times of the year. They are much like rhododendrons and azaleas in their likes. One growing tip is to add two shovels of peat moss to the planting hole to keep the soil more acid and hold more moisture.
