Companion panting basil and tomatoes
I was told NEVER to plant basil in the same garden along with tomatoes and other vegetables, is this fact?

No that is not a fact. Many gardeners plant basil and tomatoes in the same pot because they both love sun and warm weather. Perhaps you are thinking of potatoes and tomatoes. Those two are related and can share disease spores so it is often recommended not to plant tomatoes with potatoes.
