When to harvest purple potatoes
How can I tell when my purple potatoes are ready to harvest? This is my first time planting them in my garden.

There is a wide window of harvest time with potatoes as you can harvest early for young, small, and tender new potatoes, wait until mid summer for larger potatoes, or wait until fall for winter storage potatoes. The tops of potato plants will wilt or turn yellow when it is really time for a late harvest. Try to dig some up early and see what size they are. Potatoes do not ripen at a certain date as soil and weather influences the maturity.
