Caring for daylilies

How do I care for day lilies? When do I cut them back and fertilize?

Marianne's Response

Daylilies are easy care perennials. Fertilize in the spring with a slow release plant food like Osmocote and cut back the strappy leaves in the fall once they turn yellow. You can cut off the tall flower spikes as soon as the blossoms are done opening. After five or six years or when you see less flowers you may need to dig up and divide your daylilies. You can do this in the fall or early spring. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
