Permanent wilting point?
I read your comment to M L of Tacoma on her wilted fuchsia basket reaching the permanent wilting point as being a dead plant. I had a plant that has met that phase so I decided to put it in the ground 4 years ago and it has come up in the ground every year since. I was so pleased with the way that the one has done I have since done it with 2 others. I thought the roots were root bound so that is why I did what I did.

What a great tip - thanks for sharing. Sometimes when the plant is wilting from poor drainage and root rot a move to the ground will save it. It is hard to determine when a plant reaches the \"permanent wilting point' so first aid for wilting plants can include moving them or poking holes in the potting soil and adding perlite or vermiculite like a previous writer suggested.
