Using a heat mat to grow from seed
My friend was watching This Old House on PBS. They were showing a heat mat that they placed under seedlings in their little cups. He inquired at Lowes, Home Depot, etc. and they had no idea what he was talking about. I need to know where to purchase the “heat mat”, how much it should be, and how to use it. I hope you can help him and me. Thank you very much.

The seedling heat mat is sold by seed catalog companies such as Territorial Seed company and prices start at $24.96 for a small growing mat that offers gentle bottom heat, or you can invest in a thermostatically controlled heat mat with the smaller size starting at $65.00. They all come with instructions and growing tips and the bottom heat really does speed germination. Some gardeners place their newly seeded flats on top of the fridge or other appliances that warm up a bit to give them the gentle bottom heat they love. You can contact the company at www.territorialseed.com or phone 800-626-0866. Congrats on learning to grow plants from seed - you'll not only save money but have many more plant varieties to chose from.
Keep growing,
