How to grow Walla Walla sweet onions
I have been trying to grow Walla Walla onions for a few years now and have not had any luck. Can you tell me how to grow these onions in the Olympia area? Do I need special soil, fertilizer, mulch, etc? How about watering? In general, what do I need to do to have nice big Walla Walla onions in my garden. Thank you very much.

What you really need is heat and sunshine - much like they get in Walla Walla Washington. In your cooler zone you will need to use raised beds with good drainage in a hot spot near a south or west facing wall. Also, try trapping heat with a hoop house that covers the onion bed. Do not over water. Add some sand to the soil if it is rich and moist all the time. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
