What to do with oriental lilies in winter
My oriental lilies did very well in pots this year. Can I leave them in pots out in the yard for the winter and plant them in the ground in the spring? Not sure how to winter them.

Oriental lilies are hardy bulbs that should be able to survive the winter outdoors depending on where you live. Any plant left in a pot is more exposed to the cold so I would either move the pots to a protected location under the eaves or into a garage so they won't freeze. Or, dig up the bulbs now and replant them into the ground before a hard frost. Most bulbs will die from rot when they get too much moisture, so make sure you place the bulbs in well drained soil or even a raised bed. Another thing to avoid is letting any potted bulbs sit near a gutter that overflows, as wet soil all winter will rot the bulbs.
Keep growing,
