MarL’s Question

Hello!
I am stumped. This season I planted Lutz Greenleaf Beets (Ed Hume Seeds). I’ve never planted beets before. They are a nice 4″ in diameter but here’s my problem…they are not red, they are white! Will they turn red, or do you think there’s a white variety and the seeds were packaged wrong?Thank you so much for your answer.

Wow - you have me stumped as well. Ed Hume does sell a golden beet - but I have not heard of white beets. Perhaps they are a pale yellow color? Are they really pure white? I think the best place to solve this mystery is to email Ed Hume himself by going to his Ed Hume Seeds website. He would be able to tell you if anyone else has had albino beets pulled up. Keep in touch - we will all be waiting to hear about your ghostly beets. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
