Yes, Osmocote is a slow release plant food that is safe for herbs. Many Mediterranean herbs such as oregano and thyme thrive in poor soil so they do not need as much fertilizer as other blooming plants or vegetables. I use Osmocote at half the recommended amount on these herbs and never fertilize the mint in my garden as mint is an herb that I work hard to contain as it wants to escape and spread all over the garden.
